I would like to hear from soldiers who have been in combat situations, from their families, or from others interested in this conversation. I am a graduate student interested in war rhetoric. I have no preset agenda: I simply want to listen, to learn, and to be supportive.

Married, two kids. Worked in the defense industry for 20 years before taking a different path. I'll be starting my dissertation on the rhetoric of war in a few months. Qualifying exam week

Dear BlogFriends, I am taking qualifying exams for the next week. I took the first of three 8-hour written exams today. I'll do the same on Friday and Monday. Assuming I pass all the writtens, I'll then have orals next Wednesday. And assuming I pass those, I'll then be admitted to candidacy, which means I'm cleared to begin work on my dissertation.
